Celebrating 30 Years of Artistic Legacy in Oklahoma

“A tribute to Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale — to walk in her footsteps is to believe that art can elevate the soul, unite communities, and inspire generations. From the timeless traditions of India to the heart of Oklahoma, Sainrithya carries her vision forward with reverence, grace, and responsibility.”

For three decades, Sainrithya Dance Academy has been a beacon of Indian classical arts in Oklahoma, preserving the timeless tradition of Bharatanatyam while shaping generations of dancers through grace, discipline, and storytelling. Founded by sisters Sowmya Sridhar and Shalini Srinivasan, the academy proudly carries the legacy of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, founder of the world-renowned Kalakshetra, as second in lineage through their revered Gurus Natyacharya S. Aravindan and Smt. Vasantha Aravindan. More than a dance school, Sainrithya has become a space for cultural identity, excellence, and purpose, where students learn not only movement, but also music, mythology, rhythm, language, and history.

Over 500 students have trained at the academy, with many performing at prestigious venues across the United States and India, including Vashi Fine Arts and the sacred temples of Chidambaram, Madurai, and Guruvayur. Honored with the title Natya Jyothi, the founders have led collaborations with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Grammy-nominated vocalist Bombay Jayashri, renowned sitarist Arjun Verma, and workshops at leading institutions, including the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, and Stanford Medical Center.

Sainrithya students continue to shine as leaders in collegiate dance teams nationwide, such as Johns Hopkins Shakthi and Georgia Tech GT Pulse, to name a few, carrying tradition forward with innovation and pride. Through original productions such as Acharya Samarpanam and Shishya Sharadhanjali, the academy celebrates the sacred Guru-Sishya bond and the continuity of heritage. This 30-year milestone stands as a powerful testament to what is possible when art is pursued with devotion, nurtured with love, and shared with the world.
